As in past years, restaurants, retailers and other businesses are offering free deals to vets on Veteran's Day, Nov 11, 2014.

In most cases, vets must present proof of military service such as valid military ID or honorable discharge card, or be in uniform. Some offers are for the veteran only, and others include family.

Free meals (some offer lunch only, some offer dinner only, some offer both) are being offered by Applebees, California Pizza Kitchen, Chili's, Denny's, Friendley's, Hooter's, IKEA (yep, they are offering meals), IHOP, Olive Garden, Ryan's, Sheetz, Shoney's, Sizzler, Smokey Bones, Texas Roadhouse and TGIFriday's.

Other eateries are offering free appetizers, these include: Black Angus, Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Lobster, Outback Steakhouse and Ruby Tuesday.

Cracker Barrel is offering free dessert, and Tony Roma's is offering free beer.

Free coffee and donuts are available from Krispy Kreme, and Starbucks is offering a free, tall brewed coffee to all U.S. military veterans and active duty servicemembers -- and their spouses.

Some places say they are celebrating on Monday Nov 17, including Golden Corral, Ponderosa Steakhouse.
