I am a child of the WWII era. I have always considered myself a patriot, even when I have passionately disagreed with the policies of the government. My view is that disagreeing with the current caretakers, during any administration, is not only our right, but, the sacred responsibility of every citizen who claims to love this country. It is my opinion that there are far to many of us that take on those responsibilities lightly or not at all. I hope that there are still those who understand that responsibility and will join me in this on-going " great american debate". In the spirit of Voltaire,"I may disagree with your views, but, I will defend with my life your right to express them." That, I hope will set the tone of this blog. Please feel free to post responses to anything I write here, but I hope we can keep the discussion civil, the level of debate high and the volume low. Thanks for coming.

Top Reasons I Will Vote In This Election Though there is a growing suspicion that nothing changes whether we vote for Republicans or Democrats--I believe there are compelling reasons we need to shake off our apathy--and that we need to vote and continue to support Democrats.

The Rise and Fall of the American Republic Americans have forgotten that a well informed active public is the only guardian of our liberties and that, that duty requires us to vote. We have often neglected that civil liberty out of apathy and anger. A right and duty that our forefathers won for us with their blood. Doing nothing but complain about what the current administration failed to do is moronic and self destruct, given the current political alternative. Vote!

Ants--The Rich Man's Burden Fareed Zakaria's interview with, Goldman Sachs CEO, Lloyd Blankfein was illuminating. As I watched an obviously brilliant Mr. Blankfein explain with great detail how his deals were structured, it occurred to me that while he is brilliant, he was also oblivious to the damage that he and others in his class had caused.
