While ACLU continues the good fight for racial fairness and gay marriage, much more basic rights have been taken from us, hollowing out the core of our democracy.

My Chase Mastercard "declined" the charge from an Icelandic organization which was accepting donations for Wikileaks, though I was nowhere near the credit limit and had never missed a payment. The newspapers and TV reports have circumscribed limits for acceptable versions of the facts, as discussed in polite society. But we don't have to let them define our reality. The war is not over. Every day, in our name, innocent Iraqis are being killed by frightened American soldiers who are in over their heads. Countless others are being inflamed against America. President Obama is committed to ending the war slowly. We can support him to end it quickly. I have committed to writing a letter each day until the war ends.
Tuesday, March 25, 2008 Why I can't get excited about Obama's Race Speech SHARE
I don't think it's possible to move beyond the Bush legacy until we debunk the picture of reality that they created with the classical Orwellian tactic of repeating the Big Lie, and infiltrating the major news organs. It is essential that a new Democratic Administration investigate and exhibit for the nation the extravagant criminality of the Bush regime.
