This article finally abandons the impotent reaction to Trump's pandemic response as "incompetent," or "failing," and uses the words that really ring true: "sadism" and "sabotage." The "cruelty is the point" hashtag came close, but this expert really nails it. Trump delights in the death and destruction his behavior has caused. Democrats, the international community, and the media must drastically adjust their strategies to this abnormal administration.
Friday, January 24, 2020 Why intersectionality fails the JewsSHARE
This article explains the problem with lumping the Jewish people into the category of white, with all the privilege that implies. Beside the fact that Jews come in many different ethnic groups and skin color, it belies the limits of that assumed "privilege," and the fact that White Supremacists would never abide by that inclusion.
Wednesday, July 24, 2019 Mueller Missed the Crime: Trump's Campaign Coordinated With RussiaSHARE
A fresh look at Mueller's work, more critical than many from the perspective of more accountability for Trump. One criticism in particular rarely seen elsewhere: that Mueller failed to include certain expertise in his hiring choices. For those frustrated that the collusion question was handled in too lenient a way, this article will be satisfying.

An odd debate concerning the treatment of Asylum Seekers from Central America has developed, over the loaded term "concentration camps." Use of the term by Congresswoman @AOC has been met with criticism - notably by Liz Cheney - that the analogy is insulting to Holocaust Survivors. This article lends academic support for AOC's position. Cheney has actually been called out on twitter - by descendants of Holocaust survivors - for her insensitivity to all victims of concentration camps, under the guise of defending the Jewish community.

Dr. Michael Greger has been deep diving into the scientific literature for several years, busting myths, confronting corporate misinformation, & educating us on the power of diet. This video does a great service, reporting on a FOIA request that revealed the hidden studies on antidepressants.
(5 comments) Saturday, March 17, 2018 Why the real defenders of the second amendment oppose the NRASHARE
It's been said be for, but not often or loud enough to drown out the dangerous distortions of the gun lobby. Every right other right that we have is generally understood to be curtailed by how it interferes with the rights of others. Why would we exempt weapons of war from that condition. The truth is, we never did. Sadly, until this message drowns out the NRA, I fear we will have more tragedies.
Monday, January 22, 2018 Why Don't They Just Get in Line?SHARE
Another great piece from the American Immigration Council. So many anti-immigration folks ask this question. This piece shows that for the vast majority of today's immigrants, there is no line. It's sad that people who want to come here for the same reasons so many of our ancestors did are being de-humanized with the label "illegals."
(4 comments) Sunday, January 21, 2018 Did My Family Really Come Legally?SHARE
This is an excellent fact sheet for putting today's immigration debate in perspective. Anti-immigrant arguments often start with: "Why can't today's immigrants come legally, like my ancestors?" But there is a huge difference between the two eras. Sadly, many immigration laws were aimed at certain countries/ethnic groups. Dreamers and their parents didn't have the options previous generations of Americans had.
(1 comments) Sunday, January 21, 2018 The Resurgent Threat of White Supremacist ViolenceSHARE
This article illustrates the very real threat of white supremacist violence. In the age of Trump, where right wing terrorism is ignored and Islamic terrorism is magnified, it's an important reminder. The author also goes through the types of media and literature that often fuels such violence. Fears of changing demographic trends leads to the cry of "white genocide" - a particularly insensitive charge, given the cases of actual genocide that have occurred throughout history.
Tuesday, December 26, 2017 No, Rick Santorum, Trump Didn't 'Get' The Bonuses For AT&T Workers, Their UNION Did.SHARE
Once again, the Trump Administration has taken credit for something it didn't do. Adding insult to injury, they have doubled down on their pro-corporate, anti-union policies, by slighting the hard work of unions. This exchange of favors between the administration and corporate entities with regulatory business in front of the federal government, as well the potential for worsening income inequality from the #GOPTaxScam, is just the icing on the cake.
Tuesday, August 29, 2017 Mattis freezes transgender policy; allows troops to continue serving, pending studySHARE
This breaking news speaks volumes about Donald J. Trump, that this type of oversight of his judgment is necessary. Let's hope that sanity prevails in this case. As one who did not serve, he has a lot of chutzpah passing judgment on the fitness of transgender troops to serve.
(4 comments) Saturday, August 26, 2017 The Troubling Reason the Electoral College ExistsSHARE
It's time to re-address this shameful history, and realize that it is not a coincidence that without this pro-slavery bias, we would not be facing a president who sides with Nazis and White Supremacists. Before the presidency of Barack Obama, ourfuture.org held a conference called "Take Our Country Back." It referred to the last time the popular vote loser won the presidency: George W. Bush. During the Obama era, the "take our country back" meme took on racist overtones. Perhaps it's time we take back the expression, to mean the return of Democracy.
Saturday, August 26, 2017 This Holocaust Survivor Noticed A Detail In Charlottesville You Might Have MissedSHARE
A sobering account that shows that indeed, it can happen here. If there's anyone left in the reality-based community who has not taken Trump's antics seriously up until now, Charlottesville is a red line. We must act now to save our country. Impeachment is necessary, but not sufficient. We need to correctly define terrorism, to turn our efforts to the form of terrorism that has been the most prevalent (i.e., right wing, domestic terrorism). Finally, we need to stop pretending that laws and policies that disenfranchise minorities - both ethnic and religious - are unrelated to such hate and violence.
Monday, November 21, 2016 DEM Senate - Please challenge the results in these 3 states -the data says you won - MO, PA, WISHARE
This article has resources and articles concerning several voter irregularities in key swing state in the 2016 election. In the context of the recent reports of Russian hacking, as well as the decades long "black box voting" movement, it is imperative that - at least in these states - we call to #AuditTheVote

Fellow Election Integrity pioneers Brad Friedman and Jonathan Simon discuss how Election 2016, once again, brings us to a familiar place. Once again, we see reported disparities between the exit polls on election day, and the tabulated results. And once again, we accept the flawed and hackable machines, without question. In the name of a "smooth transition." Simon reports on the greater tendencies of discrepancies to occur in swing states, the fact that the result seems to have a "red-shift" tendency, and questions why we choose complacency over questioning. An excellent discussion. Moreover, a reason to ask your state - if it's one of those in question - to "AuditTheVote.

It's a travesty that the MSM breathlessly reported on Wikileaks hacks (which were never verified as accurate) & Comey's letter, when these blockbuster revelations were being discovered by Eichenwald. For this reason, I blame them as much as anyone for this travesty of an election result.

Good oped from the Chicago Tribune on what would have happened to a normal person in Hillary's position. Why would we promote someone who has shown themselves to be so careless with national secrets to the President of the United States, and leader of the "Free World?"

A disturbing development reported by The Intercept. We all talk about corporate media, but when interviews are advertised for sale at political conventions, we are talking about a new level of betrayal.I was pleasantly surprised to not see MSNBC on this list; however, there's no telling whether it's a complete list.

If this piece in the Intercept is correct, then this is a highly crafty sleight-of-hand piece of rhetoric. It sounds like Bernie-style progressivism, while serving corporate greed. As I submit this, I'm listening to Elizabeth Warren speak at a Clinton rally, and I have to wonder: what is she thinking?
(1 comments) Thursday, May 26, 2016 Intel Vets Urge Fast Report on Clinton EmailsSHARE
This authoritative plea from those best equipped to make it is devastating for the Clinton campaign. Sadly, many in the corporate media - including MSNBC - have missed the most serious issue in this scandal: national security. The IG report has often been reported as being about bureaucratic "rules." In fact, if accurate, it reflects an arrogant and careless disregard for the nation's secrets, which a Secretary of State should be expected to uphold.
