After the Allies defeated the Germans, over 11 million German soldiers were imprisoned. Over a million of them died before being released. Over ten million German nationals were expelled from their homes in the occupied countries. Many of them also died.
Of course there were the Nuremberg trials, where war criminals were prosecuted, with some of them executed.
Now, take a conceptual leap with me.
The plutocratic top one percent, combined with the multinational corporations and the minions who serve them have declared all out war on us-- on the middle class and the poor. They have set up a health care system where at least tens of thousands die every year-- the ones they can't deny or paste over. They've set up a system of banking that works as part of the medical military media industrial complex to take away millions of homes, to wipe out the savings of millions. That health care system is designed to force seniors to give up their life savings so they can get miserable assisted living services.

The one percent's war against the middle class is now set up to keep young people in just about life-long debt to pay for educations that are not even delivering the better jobs that were promised. Why? Because even those better jobs have been outsourced with no tariff protections for American workers. Even leading Democrats are leading the assault on Unions-- take Rahm Emanuel for example.
The war against us has produced tens of millions of casualties. The authors of THE BETRAYAL OF THE AMERICAN DREAM predict that there will be over 100 million casualties. ONE HUNDRED MILLION CASUALTIES from the One Percent's war against the middle class and the poor.

So, here's where I really push the comparison to the defeat of the Germans. Imagine that we fully engage in this war with the one percent-- that we go for winning, not trying to placate them, that we go for defeating and destroying the power base and war resources of the enemy, that we go for taking back what they stole from us, what the built and acquired with the spoils of war.
That would include their homes, their pensions, their businesses, their memberships in organizations of power. The Allies expelled them from their homes and let them take what they could pull on a wagon with them.
This screen shot from a youtube.com posted US military video taken after WWII shows the damage done to a German city. While Americans have not experience damage to physical structures, the damage to families, careers, whole industries, has been massive.
A comparable collection of reparations and seeking of justice would put a lot of people in jail, with all their wealth and assets taken away-- taken back. When the Russians took Berlin, they raped thousands of women. That's reprehensible. But the Allies did put wives and children out on the street. I'm not saying to do that. When we-the-people defeat the One Percent, we will put in place a reasonable safety net for the poor and health care for all. When the husbands and wives and children of the One Percenters (hey, nowadays there are PLENTY of female One Percenters,) are left without their wealth, expelled from their homes, they will have access to subsidized housing, food stamps, medicaid-- a much better situation than the Allies left millions of German Nationals in.
