* Reaching Out to Teachers and Students
* Progress Toward Matching Grants
* Volunteers Needed
We had a day or two of great hope when
the draft voting-technology recommendations from
National Institute of Standards and Technology
(NIST) declared direct-recording electronic (DRE)
machines unacceptable. Unfortunately, the panel
deadlocked on that issue, and the recommendation did
not survive.
Here at Election Integrity we've been checking in
with our major funders, writing up plans for an exit
poll in Sarasota if they have a revote, and
continuing to wrangle with the Delaware County Board
of Elections.

Reaching Out to Teachers and Students
We want to reach out to teachers and students,
starting with the college and high school level. If
you are (or know) a teacher or a student, please let
us know what educational resources you'd like to see
at ElectionIntegrity.org. Social studies lesson
plans? Math lesson suggestions using exit poll
data? Charts? Pamphlets? To reach us, just reply
to this message.

Progress Toward Matching Grants
We have received our first matching grant from a
foundation! By giving $15,000 total, our donors
earned us an extra $10,000. This same foundation
has promised three more $10,000 matching grants, and
we are only $2,000 away from the next goal.
We have completed phase one of our November 2006
exit poll project, but we still need funding to
complete our data collection and analysis. We need
continuing funding to raise public awareness of
election vulnerability and fraud. And we need to
raise funds now and to develop the tools with which
we can verify the integrity of elections moving
forward, especially in the 2008 US Presidential
Election. Please
help us! Gifts are tax-deductible.

Volunteers Needed
Thanks to George Reinhart and Karen Todd, who
answered last week's call for web-maintenance
volunteers.
We would love to find a reliable,
experienced bookkeeper. Experienced help with
fundraising would enable us to more effectively
fight for election integrity.
Finally, I think it would be fun to have profiles
of some of our supporters (volunteers, donors, and
others) on the website, but that requires someone to
take on the project of interviewing volunteers and
creating profiles.
If you are interested in any of the volunteer
positions described, or if you have other ideas
about how you might help the organization, please
reply to this message.
