Hello,
We are in the throes of corporatism and AIG wants bonuses and taxpayers are being treated pitifully and Obama wants to stand up for the people of America but we are still in Afghanistan and drones are bombing Pakistan and it's St. Patrick's Day so many Americans are grabbing green beer and in Chicago, they put this "stuff" in the river that runs in front of the Wrigley Building and the Trump Tower which Donald Trump cannot afford and this "stuff" is probably very harmful to the environment but who knows everyone came to a parade and many of them got drunk afterwards instead of hightailing it over to the antiwar immigrant rights march in Pilsen on March 14th.
College is getting more and more expensive by the minute and it's tough for us because many are coming to grips with the reality that they are going to lose their job or that they have already lost their job. And, now you have to come up with money for food and you have to take care of the children and you need to find another job.
One of OEN's very own Muhammad Khurshid is in deep trouble. He needs help but it's tough for OENers and Americans to find ways to get to Khurshid and actually help his family.
In the meantime, our media is making these crises in our foreign policy and economy worse instead of better. The fundamentals of reporting are not being practiced. People are losing because they are tacitly supporting the very things the people want to end right now.
So, should we OENers delight in March Madness and have a bracket community or group on CBS.Sportsline.com?
It may seem like we have to choose either/or. Political people sometimes think they need to take a stand and say "no" and put their foot down and feel guilty for doing something escapist when so many are suffering. I say...
...Let's put our group out there and let's give March Madness a liberal, progressive edge.
Let's critique and comment on, culturally and politically, the corporate culture that infects college basketball and sports. Let's talk about what effect sports has on society and how what we see in basketball can be connected to the current economic crisis.
Or, simply, let's just enjoy my favorite sport to watch. Let's delight in an American tradition that I have been engaging in during March (in addition to marching against the Iraq and Afghanistan wars) for years now.

Let's get a presence on CBS.Sportsline.com. We could attract readers who do not normally come to OpEdNews if we are big enough.
