My solution: Make one terse but mighty change in Meek's asinine proposal to use war bonds to fund the military occupation of Afghanistan. I propose using his patriotic war bonds as the sole source of funding.
Every last one of the 59,934,814 patriotic Republicans who voted for Bomb, Bomb, Bomb John McCain last year can rise to the challenge of the dire threat facing our nation. They can plot a course for success, express their patriotism, take their share of collective responsibility and share the sacrifice. By each purchasing a $25 war bond.
At $1 million per soldier per year, this noble effort to save freedom and democracy in America for future generations will fund roughly 1,500 soldiers in Afghanistan for one year.
Twelve short months. And at the end of those twelve short months, those 59,934,814 patriotic Republicans can promptly declare America victorious, due in large part to their shared sacrifice, expressions of patriotism and acceptance of collective responsibility.
At which time all 1,500 soldiers will promptly get the f*ck out of Afghanistan and come home to their Main Streets of America, where they belong.
