Rudy Giuliani, who plays Trump's flack the way Cohen plays Trump's fixer, has long claimed he was negotiating conditions under which Trump would be questioned by Mueller.
The chance that Trump would volunteer to be questioned by Mueller about these matters is less than the chance that I will be asked by the Green Bay Packers to start at quarterback on opening day of the NFL season!
Observing the Manafort trial, it is a battle of the rats who are ratting on each other about a rat-infested campaign for president. Manafort and Gates are like rats biting each other in court, accusing each other of multiple crimes. They are probably right about each other.
The only difference between them is that so far, only Gates has copped a deal with the Feds and there is a treasure trove of written documented evidence backing his claims. If Manafort is convicted, he may well join Gates and rat on others.
Waiting in the wings in this rat-invested sewer is Cohen, who has already begun to rat on Trump. Cohen claims Trump knew about the Trump Tower meeting in advance. He apparently claims there was a second meeting at which Gates was present. What other dirt will Cohen dish on Trump to get a good plea deal?
If Cohen delivers the goods on Trump to Mueller, he could be the John Dean of the Russia scandal, and this scandal would probably end like the Watergate scandal, a subject for a future column.
