This morning, on my way back from the half-mile marker, I stopped to talk to the man sitting on the bench.
"Are you preparing a sermon? I asked him. No. He said. "I am just trying to turn my life over to God in these troubled times of no employment, financial difficulties, healthcare-lessness. The reading last night and this morning injected the thought in my soul that God LOVES His creatures. That if I surrender to His LOVE, He will take care of everything, he said.
"Funny how when I opened my Bible this morning, it opened to Song of Songs which in poetic from also speaks of GOD'S LOVE FOR HIS PEOPLE. GOD has you on me on the same page today, I said. He smiled and I said, "good-bye.
As I was walking away, I heard him say, "Have a Blessed day.
"Thank you. You too. I replied.
On the way to my car, two men were sitting at another bench, talking. I heard one of them tell the other, "God will take care of it. His friend had been telling him about a cancer problem another one of his friends is facing.
Just as I was to get into to my car, I saw the cleaning woman with whom I had become friends yesterday. There she was, sweating away under the hot sun, as she had been yesterday, sweeping the sand away from the sidewalks and the shower stalls by the sidewalks, and just like yesterday, we hugged and wished each other a good day.
Yesterday I had talked to her about my grandchildren. Today I brought three pictures of them to show her. We talked about how hot it was already getting to be, only 8 o'clock in the morning and how it was predicted that the feel-like temperature was going to get up to feel like 105 degrees.
She told me to, "go home and get out of the heat. I said, "I will but first I have something in the car I want you to see. Let me go get it and I'll bring it back.
I showed her three pictures of my grandchildren. She said they were beautiful. She told me, "tell your son and daughter-in-law that they have two beautiful children. I said, "I will.
Tomorrow I will bring you a picture of my seven weeks ˜ old grandbaby, She said. I said, "Good. I will love to meet her. " Then, I said, handing her a little stuffed tiger, "this little tiger is from one of my grandson's happy meal. I didn't give it to him because he puts everything in his mouth. I am giving it to you so you will have a happy day but now you have a seven weeks old granddaughter, make sure she doesn't put it in her mouth. "I will, she said.
As she turned to go her way, and I turned to go back to my car, the man who had told his friend, "God will take of it, shouted to me, "I'm a witness. Yes! I am a witness!
Yes. Congress and our politicians have forgotten LOVE. None of their rulings and bills include any LOVE in them. They are all laced with greed and narcissism.
Yet, LOVE SPEAKS.
LOVE is the way.
LOVE is the answer.
LOVE flows, people to people, person to person.
Perhaps LOVE will touch a politician who will then touch other politicians.
Congress has forgotten.
The people have not.
