After she has had her say,
I know that she will fly away
But my heart will ne're leave this tree
From which my black bird sang to me.
Like the first bird, she has spoken,
And like my heart, she sings unbroken.
As she flies she will hear me cry,
Blackbird fly! Blackbird fly!
............
I wrote this poem inspired by Blake's "Songs of Experience".
I found a gold ring last week with an black onyx heart. I saw it as my medicine. My heart has been "black" because I have been dealing with (trying to metabolize) the darkness and shadow that seems to be hanging over the world both in my dreams and my waking life.
"Like the first bird, she has spoken" is borrowed from Cat Steven's "Morning has broken", the title of a Christian hym written in 1931 that was set to a Scottish Gaelic tune titled "Bunessan".
"Blackbird fly. Blackbird fly" is from P McCartney's song "Blackbird".
