JB: That is impressive. And I can see how you would get lost in the shuffle. Do you have any desire to write a more complete account of the rescue operation?
JFC: I did not write the book The Rescuer.
JB: Yes, I know.
JFC: I met with him and gave him a great deal of information. Troper wrote it, and he received all the royalties.
I don't know how to write a book or an "account." Everything I ever did is on pieces of paper in files. One day, some author will discover the story and want to expand on it; who knows???
JB: You've been traveling around giving talks about this. That's how I heard you in October. How's that going? What kinds of groups do you talk to and what kind of response have you gotten?
JFC: I don't give a lot of speeches because people still do not know about me outside of Canada. I am speaking next week for a synagogue fund raising in Toronto.
I have spoken for Keren Hayesod [United Israel Appeal] in Panama, South Africa, Sao Paulo and Mexico City some years ago, and a few speeches for JFNA [Jewish Federations of North America] in the US for the Lions of Judah fund raising. I spoke in Chicago through a speakers bureau when you were there, and you saw the audience reaction: a long standing ovation. That is the usual response. It would be nice to get a few more speeches.
