We are the means by which god is manifest in the world. And whenever we pick a tool to leverage our senses, muscles or brains, we must do it in a calm manner. And determine that the outcomes are acts of kindness. Be calm; be kind. The User Manual for every tool should come with those instructions.
And let's concede while each people and tribe in history had its own creation story from long ago, each being equally valid. But we have learned enough in our time from the sciences to put together a creation story for the whole planet, for all the people of the world, based on prophets like Darwin and Einstein, in which we are all equal in our common genesis and now our common destiny.
I think we have to look back if we are to go forward successfully. I wish you and I could go back in time, to be with the Ohlone people who were the original inhabitants in what is now called the San Francisco Bay Area; before the fateful encounter with the Franciscans. They had a ceremony every year where they would gather on the shores of the Pacific Ocean and dance all night, chanting, "We are dancing... we are dancing on the brink of the world." They got it, surely.
And 1,500 miles away in the Dakotas, the Lakota Sioux prayed, "When it is time for my departure, may I approach the Great Spirit with clean hands and straight eyes."
We've lost what they had. Under all our data and information, there is still some ember of wisdom. But we need to find it, as if all the tomorrows of our children depend on it. They do. The spirit is within us and without us. Always was; always will be. Forever and ever. Amen
