There is a myriad of factors fueling the anxiety that energizes the irrationality being injected into many of the choices a lot of American's are making. Nevertheless, the fact that an individual as clearly flawed as Donald Trump could -- under any circumstances -- have made it this far in a U.S. national election only goes to show that America's electorate is fast becoming its own "crazy uncle in the basement."
As for the GOP, it faces a daunting dilemma. A Bloomberg national poll taken in mid-October revealed that only 33 percent of Republicans feel that Paul Ryan represents their views, compared to 51 percent for Trump. But based on the likely outcome of the election, it's clear that on the basis of ideology alone, the Trump Doctrine is incompatible with America's overall values. If more than half of the GOP base is out of step with that of the nation overall, how can the GOP possibly sustain itself? Hence all this, the GOP currently finds itself in a bit of a quagmire analogous to a familiar philosophical quandary: "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?"
Here, the question is : If Republicans run for office, but no Republicans show up to vote, does the Republican Party truly exist?
And so, within the GOP, the Donald Trump-inspired p*ssy Riot rages on. But it's yet early and the eventual outcome has yet to be seen. Nevertheless, what we've all witnessed thus far offers a very discouraging glimpse of the Party's future.
Meanwhile, for the rest of America, a whole different riot gets underway on the night of November 8. It will begin shortly after the polls close when America's Sorest Loser -- still convinced that he has been the victim of a rigged election and with the sounds of Hillary Clinton's victory speech still ringing in his ears -- glides back up the escalator at Trump Tower to begin plotting his next move.
