Enfranchise Diss (Two Sonnets)

I.

Been an expat for 27 years:

Been home: New York: I've smelled the afterburn

of 9/11, my country in tears,

and have known that it's time that we unlearn

notions of freedom -- they went up in smoke

long before we taught 19 Jihads how

to take off but not to land. What a joke!

No trials yet, two decades later, wow.

But what burns me up is the right to vote,

all of those mail-in Black ballots just thrown

to the wind over the years. My Pet Goat
