September 11, 2001 is noted for the most horrendous attack against the U.S. within our own country, resulting in the deaths of close to 3000 people as well as entry into 2 wars. Government officials quickly identified 19 Middle Eastern religious fanatics [a number of identities were incorrect - editor] as perpetrators and promptly endorsed a story which emphasized extreme neglect and incompetence on the part of our government (the Bush administration). We were asked to believe that these 19 men, armed with nothing more than matte knives, out-maneuvered a multi-billion dollar defense system. In order to accept the government's story we were asked to abandon any intellectual and critical thought.
The government asked us to believe that the twin towers fell because of the heat produced by the planes' explosions and the burning jet fuel. However, many scientists argued that jet fuel and office materials could not generate enough heat to compromise the steel support structures of the towers. The government theory, also, could not explain why tower 7 collapsed at 5:20pm, several hours after the attack when no plane crashed into it. Testimony from NYC firefighters claiming they heard multiple explosions in the buildings were ignored. Even news commentators who were located at the WTC originally identified explosions but eventually these reports were removed from view. All three buildings fell at free fall speed as if the steel support structure simply disappeared. We are left, over 8 years later, with many of the same questions unanswered. Newscasters, newspapers, law enforcement people remain quiet and unresponsive. The 9-11 Truth Movement is ridiculed and marginalized. No one wants to touch this issue no matter how radical their politics for fear that they would also be marginalized. This despite the growing evidence that military grade explosives were found in the dust from the World Trade Center and that more than 1000 architects and engineers, after seeing the evidence, have signed petitions that assert that the towers did not fall due to planes crashing into them and requesting further investigation.
To understand an event, one must always look at who benefited from the event. The Bush administration assumed enormous power and was able to pursue their foreign and domestic agendas without significant resistance. Let us not marginalize the people who have dedicated the past eight years of their lives trying to find answers to a crime that has cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, American, Iraqi, and Afghani.
