We're facing a situation in the gulf where the US government doesn't have the tools or technology to address the problems the disaster has created.
This is what conservatives, neocons and libertarians have been asking for-- small government, privatization of advanced technology...
So why are these lovers of privatization and "government small enough so you can drown it in a bathtub" calling for President Obama to come to the aid of the victims of the disaster created by a corporation. Why aren't they celebrating the fact that the US has to depend upon the technology and expertise of the corporation that perpetrated the catastrophe?
Like the old saying, "there are no atheists in foxholes," perhaps there are no ant-government ideologues during a disaster. But it's interesting watching them try to excuse their hypocrisy.
Meanwhile, this situation the United States has found itself in raises a serious question. "Do we really want to put our faith, trust, ecology and future in the hands of for-profit corporations which have demonstrated that the interests of humans are not their primary priorities?"
President Obama has a vision of space exploration that is privatized. We know the direction K-street lobbyists want the US to go.
This BP caused Gulf oil disaster makes it clear that we've already made the choice. Is it one we want to embrace or is it time we re-evaluate?
