Janine R. Wedel, an anthropologist and University Professor in the School of Policy, Government, and International Affairs at George Mason University, is the author ofUnaccountable: How Elite Power Brokers Corrupt our Finances, Freedom, and Security (Pegasus, October 2014).

Her other books include the award-winning Shadow Elite (Basic Books) and Collision and Collusion: The Strange Case of Western Aid to Eastern Europe (Palgrave). 

A public intellectual, Wedel has contributed analysis pieces to more than a dozen major outlets, including the New York Times, Financial Times, Washington Post,Wall Street Journal Europe, Los Angeles Times, National Interest, Nation, Boston Globe, Politico, and Salon and appeared on MSNBC, CNN, PBS, BBC, Al-Jazeera, C-Span, NPR, the National Press Club, and TEDx, among other outlets.
