Max's master arrest by Lance L. Landon
Max's master arrest by Lance L. Landon
Hawthorne, California on Sunday 30 June 2013
Max was having a wonderful day; he'd been to the park on his leash with his master. Now with music blaring in the car, they stopped a few blocks away from home and walked around a local neighborhood street that is filled with black and white cars. His master strides too easily for someone living in a minority area where the police are mostly white. Two officers start walking towards Max and his master. Then suddenly his master scoots Max back into the car; Max thinks it must be time to go home. But wait his master goes walking back away from the car as Max looks out the open car window.
At first everything seems OK. He's still a big eighty pound two year old childlike baby Rottweiler. Two men soon are pushing his master around as Max barks he feels extreme distress. They're forcing his person towards another car. Max thinks in his way, something's wrong, his master doesn't want to go where they're pushing him [from Max's perspective].
This dog is Leon's pet and he has been loved and has had a good life up to now.
Max is not going to stay put in the car. Max feels that he better go help his master and he gradually jumps out through the window. Max walks over to the and near the street, sniffs the grass some first.

Max checks their smells but something's not right. Max howls at all of them. His master is saying get back but Max cannot understand. He is afraid he will never see his master again; inside he is increasingly truly frightened with a panic attack. He gets near the officers and his master in the street and walks a tight circle before going back on the dirt and yellowish grass area on the sidewalk near the curb.
The officer seems to purposely antagonize the dog by quickly approaching him, even though Max had not hurt him when he was close a few seconds prior to this. The officer reapproaches Max on the grass and essentially is challenging Max. Sometimes the dieing is easier than living. Max is becoming infuriated: Max barks and howls an eerie sound as he knows and senses that he and his master are in extreme danger.
After walking near the officer Max perhaps feels he and his master might die and when max is back on the dirt mix of green and yellow dieing grass he turns around at the police officer and barks a howling eerie sound that in slow motion sounds a bit like a rooster's crow. He comes back and the officer with the gun in his right hand] has his left hand up in the air. Max reaches up maybe to bite. There is something like a metal rod that is so close so Max is perturbed about these mean people.
This is a detail of the three or so seconds of the gun shooting sequence:
It seems like perhaps Max tries to bite the metal rod. Viewing in slow motion, the officer with the gun [in his hand] is all ready planning on shooting Max [by his body movements] as he puts his hand high enough above the dog's head to where such that the now angry and scared dog jumps up growling mouth open ready to bite down on the gun barrel and the police officer discharges his gun into Max's mouth. The aim is downward enough to possibly go through the bottom of Max's mouth.
The first bullet seems to rip through Max as dirt flies up under Max's hind stomach intestinal area from the first bullet so it must have gone inside of Max. Finally I see the dirt fly from the first bullet as it exits Max lower extremities. Max looked over at his master after that first shot as if to say, "Are you all right?" Then the result of the bullet further hits Max as he seems to start to recoil backwards and almost be starting to roll over to his right side a bit.
The officer seems very studious as he shoots Max.
Max pulls back and on that few milliseconds beat of time, the officer backing away, shoots Max again, the second bullet might have hit Max's left shoulder. Dirt flies on the ground from the second bullet. It's hard to tell the depth so it seems certain that the second bullet may have gone through Max's shoulder or body also. From there he starts to recoil only to be shot by that second bullet. Rather this one got his left shoulder or went through his body before it hit the dirt is debatable.
