Hillary and Me

Now that some of the dust has settled on the Hillary-Barack contest, is it okay to talk about the intangibles? Forget the politics. You’ll never hear from me who I voted for this primary season. My passion is counting votes, all of them. One voice, one voter, one vote every time. But I have to tell you, like so many other observers, for me this year was a thrill. Imagine a man of African-American decent! And a woman! Wow!

But here’s the kicker. As those two forces ripped through state after state there was an epiphany moment for me when I first realized, like her or not, Hillary is not just an amazing personality. She’s a sixty year old woman marching forward through history with her accomplishments, life, IQ and quick mind on display. Her head held high, eloquent, moxie, whatever. There was that moment when she stepped into the arena my gut churned a rollicking high five.

Politics aside, Hillary and I have much in common. We’re both career women and we don’t [often] bake cookies. She’s an incredible amazing person and I’m…well…my husband thinks I’m incredible. She’s rich and I’m…absolutely not. But Hillary and me, we’re of an age, straddling careers and cookies, children and challenges.

Hillary, this non traditional, cookie burning baby boomer thanks you. Oh and by the way, thank you Barack and John. It’s going to be an exciting election.
