Alan Singer reviews the NYTimes list of failed corporate reformers to replace Carmen Farina as NYC schools chancellor.: John King? Chased out of New York State. Jaime Aquino? In charge of the iPad disaster in Los Angeles. John White? Tool of rightwing former Governor Bobby Jindal. "Has beens all!" says  Diane Ravitch: "Hey, Bill, find someone who believes in public schools."  Do you remember the “good old school days” of Michael Bloomberg and Joel Klein? School closings. Students and teachers displaced. Community wishes ignored. Data pushers in charge of policy. Inexperienced principals with authoritarian directives threatened with being replaced if they didn’t deliver higher test scores – immediately. Test prep curriculum with plenty of high-stakes testing.The Times, which generally promotes gentrification, avoided proposing any solutions that might alienate its affluent readers."
