Sinclair Lewis put it more pointedly: "When fascism comes to American it will be carrying a flag and a bible." (Today add to that a semi-automatic assault rifle.)
So folks, stop laughing at them. There's nothing funny about what's coming our way. Even if Trump loses this election, the newly energized American neo-fascists are here to stay. If he wins, god only knows what will become of our democracy. But for a clue you might want to start paying attention to what another neo-fascist leader, Recep Erdogan, is up to in his country these days. It's a template for a Trump presidency.
If Trump loses, well, who can say what his fired up followers will do. I all know is that they are not about to go back into the closet and grudgingly behavior themselves. No. Not after all this. I also know they will be pissed, feel dissed, feel they had been cheated by (fill in the paranoia fantasy of their choice.) Oh, and they are armed, very armed and very angry.
Nothing to laugh about here.
