Independent Exit Polls (IEP) 2006
The EDA Plan and How You Can Help
By Jonathan Simon
(Jonathan@ElectionDefenseAlliance.org)
Stopping the theft of Election 2006 will depend upon two critical components: detection of fraud and effective response. It is essential that this response be informed-grounded in reliable data. All citizens called to action in the critical aftermath of Election 2006 will need to know what has happened and where. Although the level of scrutiny of election results will be high and thousands have already volunteered as election observers, the reality is that computerized counting can make election theft invisible, no matter how many observers are deployed and no matter how vigilant they are.
Exit polls, whether in the Ukraine or the United States, remain the most powerful toolavailable for detecting fraud and theft; that is why the campaign to discredit them in the wake of the past three elections has been so determined. In Election 2004,media outlets such as CNN "adjusted" exit polls to conform to vote totals and the authentic polling data appeared only briefly on the Web by mistake. The corporate-controlled media will not in 2006 make the same mistake of publicizing authentic unadjusted polling data. Thus, we can expect that "official" exit polls in the upcoming election will conceal rather than reveal fraudulent results. Analysts at Election Defense Alliance (EDA) and cooperating organizations will require valid, untainted polling data that has not been tampered with by media or other entities.
EDA has created a viable plan to provide exactly this: exit polls independent of the corporate media consortium, professionally conducted by a major polling firm, targeting critical competitive federal races, and accurate to within a 2% margin. These independent polls-like the lantern in the Old North Church that told Paul Revere what he needed to know to sound the alarm-will tell our analysts, and the American people, what they need to know about actual voting results. Independent exit polls in conjunction with other means of monitoring will form a basis for both Election Day Rapid Response and subsequent election protection activities. EDA needs your help to pay for this crucial component of election protection. We have obtained very favorable terms from a major polling firm, and the cost of conducting the necessary polls is about $400,000. This is the price for the preservation, or restoration, of our democracy. Each of us must shoulder some responsibility for this task. We cannot assume that others will contribute and therefore we need not. The preservation of our democracy now
depends on the commitment of every single American who sees the looming danger.
Polling organizations must begin their work in a matter of days. Whatever level of support you can provide, please send it now. Use our easy-to-use two-click IEP Dedicated Donation page http://electiondefensealliance.org/independent_exit_polls
You can also help us spread word by sending this message out
over your e-mail lists.
Can you introduce us to potential donors with your personal endorsement? A few major contributions now could secure coverage of the most critical contests, and inspire waves of additional support.
Our democracy is very near the point of no return: the
2006 midterm elections are a crucial turning point. If we are to have any exit polls
as safeguards, it will be because you understand, as do we, that nothing less than our democracy is at stake.

Jonathan Simon is the co-founder of Election Defense Alliance and was the one to capture on his computer the exit polls for over 40 states on the evening of Election Day, 2004. When the exit poll information later mysteriously 'disappeared' and reappeared in drastically different form, it was Jonathan's raw data that allowed
the discrepancies to be investigated. It was used in Steven Freeman and Joel Bleifuss's eminently readable book Was the 2004 presidential election stolen? Exit polls, election fraud and the official count, Seven Stories Press. www.sevenstories.com
