We had a marvelous time in Jerusalem except for the guide (see below). I did go to the Wall of Tears and made my wish. We surely went to the Al- Aqsa mosque. But of course, the most significant was the visit to the Christian Holy Places.
It does sound subjective but it seems to me that when it comes to the domination Christian Faith had taken over. The power of the beauty is unstoppable and those Churches are stunningly beautiful. Neither Jewish relics nor the Moslem ones possess such a power of entertainment if I may. You cannot leave the Garden of Gethsemane as soon as you are told that Jesus had his final talks with God, the Father there. As I have mentioned before, Christianity differs from all other religions on Earth due to its profound humanity. Jesus Christ is the only God who requires Love as a condition of faith. No other God requires that. Strictly speaking we can imagine a race of sane octopuses who would develop religions, such as a concept of some ‘invisible Octopus’ or some ‘Octopus of the 7th level of depth’ but they would never design an idea about some special God-octopus who had decided to hatch and live his life as an ordinary mollusk until the time comes for him to be devoured by a shark. No, Jesus is a human endeavor, unique and amazing, If in the future the Humanity would have to prove its worthiness to the Galactic civilizations it would be able to proudly present two things: the wheel and Christianity.
There are thousands of pilgrims visiting Christian Holy Places and among them there is a lot of people from Nigeria. Apparently they come regularly on buses. Many of them are very excited and all are in very high spirits. I talked to some of them and they said they enjoyed the trip immensely but preferred more time to spend and to pray.
There is a Mormon mission there too. I hoped to meet Mitt Romney but no such luck.
