Nixon was given a similar promise after LBJ stepped down;

Hoover and Tolson were promised status quo at the FBI, i.e., a lifetime appointment;

McCloy was promised the continued preeminence of the CIA in foreign intelligence; an end to Kennedy's "United States Note" program, which was costing the big banks who formed and controlled the Federal Reserve billions of dollars in interest and origination fees; and a seat for Allen Dulles and himself on the proposed post-Assassination Presidential Commission to investigate JFK's murder, undercutting what was more properly the duty of the Congress, a special prosecutor, or a grand jury;

Murchison and Hunt were promised a continuation of the 27.5 percent oil depletion allowance for the oil barons of America;

Marcello, Civello, Ruby, Smith, and Campbell were all promised an end to Attorney General Robert Kennedy's War on Organized Crime;

Brown, Sheffield and Yarborough were promised construction contracts in Vietnam, as well as more money for the domestic housing industry;

All were promised war against the Communists in Vietnam that the "cowardly" Kennedy was running from, together with the billions of dollars to be made from such a conflict and its financing.
Why were so many reporters at this party? To provide cover? Or were some of them leaked information so they could file stories like the one Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty claimed he saw on the front page of the newspaper in Christchurch, New Zealand, on his return from escorting a group of VIP's touring Antarctica, two hours before the assassination took place and Oswald had been captured?
I believe we must look at this as being the beginning of the control and manipulation of main stream media's information and reporting on President Kennedy's assassination that continues to this day.
One final note about the use of President Kennedy's Assassination to undermine the power of the United States Constitution.
Just as the murders of Tiberius and Gaius Gracchus by Rome's oligarchic optimate faction marked the beginning of the end of the Roman Republic, so to does the murder of John Fitzgerald Kennedy mark our own oligarchs' attempt to take the United States of America, and the constitutionally limited, democratically elected, representative republic that it is supposed to represent, down the same road to ruin and tyranny. The second was the creation of the extra-legal Warren Commission by LBJ to "investigate" the murder of President Kennedy.
