And the killings continue at such a regular rate, three a day, that it's impossible to keep up with them all.
And while the Black Lives Matter protesters grow angrier and more vocal, a large segment of the white population dismisses them, making up a variety of excuses, but never acknowledging that they do have a legitimate beef to be angry. One only needs to read the history of black and white relations in this country to understand where we're at now.
JB: I think you've laid out the facts very clearly, Carlos. Anything you'd like to add before we wrap this up?
CM: I've been a journalist most of my life, in one way or the other, ever since working as an entertainment editor for my high school newspaper, then graduating college with a degree in journalism, and there has never been a time when journalism has been so accessible to the masses.
With YouTube, Facebook, Wordpress and Twitter, just to name a few, there are many platforms available for people to publish their version of the truth.
This is the first time in history when we have experienced true Freedom of the Press because even though the First Amendment has alway guaranteed us Freedom of the Press, if you don't have access to the press, you don't have true freedom of the press.
And it couldn't have come at a better time because we have seen a major conglomeration of media companies in recent years where only a handful of companies run the majority of news outlets in this country.
And because the corporate media is so institutionalized, it will always give the benefit of the doubt to the institution, meaning the police, the politicians, the courts.
