A friend wrote me of the Democrat s' convention: " There is a rigged, unacceptable, wimpy agenda ." I responded: " It's worse. It's crafted, calculated and exploitive." We're now actually facing two rightist cliques masquerading as partisan opponents, each having an exploitative agenda, and each planning to blame the other -- Wink! Wink! -- for the "inability" to legislate and to govern in the genuine best interests of the people, while at the same time raking in the shekels from their big-money masters.
We need to swallow hard and admit to ourselves that history tells us in such a situation there are but the Three R's to a solution: Reform, new Representation (e.g. Party) or Revolution (Now a bad word, but as I recall we had one of those once).
Reform within our current treacherous two-headed cabal is simply not to be permitted by the intrenched leadership. So if we are to avoid Revolution, that leaves us with but one alternative -- which incidentally we had a solid opportunity to start with the proposed Sanders - Stein ticket. It's failure to get off the ground will no doubt please the third-parties-never-win folks, but we cannot let that negativism deter us.
Point of fact, most of the world's democracies have four or five or more parties, and many of those are more representative of their people -- and incidentally enjoy fewer and shorter wars.
Finally, we need to get off our two-party knees, discard our Democrat and Republican aprons, and get to work under a new banner of actually representational governance.
Cleveland and Philly will continue to push us, to box us up, containing us from interfering with such as the locked-door meetings of our "leaders" with the same rapacious banksters that threw us into the Great Recession, and the rationale for continuing our fourteen-year war for the resources of nations two seas and a hemisphere away from our coast .
We must not allow ourselves to be fooled by the plastic competition between such as Hillary and Trump -- two exploiters in different uniforms.
It appears that one or the other of their gangs has us for the next four years. We must wake up now and start thinking and working to make sure that we will never again allow such wretched choices, never again chance losing the vision of what a decent American government could do for the benefit of its own people, and finally for peace in the world.
