Firstly with regard to my bona fides, although a lifelong registered Democrat, I have strayed occasionally, but always to the left, voting e.g. for such as Jill Stein and Ralph Nader previously, but always for a liberal candidate, despite flying in the face of advice that my vote would be "wasted."
Now I am faced with the Hillary problem, the putative Democratic -- i.e. "liberal" candidate -- who appears to be the darling of the super-large financial interests.
I'm uncertain what specifically obligated Hillary to reveal the huge payments she received for her closed-door speaking sessions. But we do know to whom she spoke (for the most part Wall Streeters, banksters, and other financial interests) and the compensation she received from each, the most dominant figure being $225,000 a pop. And many of her audiences consist of the very same players whom we were compelled to bail-out despite their roles in the Great Recession in 2008 -- the alternative being the destruction of America's economy, or 1929 redux.
What is undeniably damning is that no one beyond her special-interest financiers KNOWS WHAT SHE SAID, what positions and promises were made in exchange for the millions she has been rewarded.
Her defense in all this is that she will not divulge any of the outsized compensated closed-door information/perspectives/promises unless other candidates tell all of theirs. Well, her competitor for the Democratic nomination did in fact reveal his remuneration, which turned out to be zero, upon which Hillary yet remains mute. And there we have the invitation to trek down Hillary Dead-End Lane where none of this will ever happen, and smiling smugly all the way.
But hey, perhaps there is a way to discover what she offers behind those shuttered doors. You too could probably do this for $225,000. Any takers out there?
As for me, "I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just." I'll be pulling the lever for Bernie or Jill again, winning be damned.
