The mainstream media are getting worse-- less responsible to the public, more dominated by the corporate conglomerates that own them. They are worthless, dangerous tools being massively manipulated, played by Bush and his Bushites.
We need new media, replacements for these rotten, worthless frauds. It looks, from our most recent poll, that Fox has not been as successful at reaching the under 25 viewers. There is an opportunity there, in particular, since the under 25s are also leaning more left. Al Gore has been working on such a network. We need it and we need networks that tell the truth without spin. We need media that are willing to shine light where cockroaches like our Attorney General Gonzalez scurry about breaking laws, corrupting the judicial system.
Our latest OpEdNews / Zogby People's poll asked; "Which of the following networks do you use as your source for news?"
Fox viewers comprised 37% of the poll responders. CNN was a distant second with 21%. Fox was the preferred news source for 75% of Republicans and less than 2 percent of Democrats. 68% of those who pick Fox as their first TV news media choice are male, not surprising with all the minimally clad women routinely shown on the show
.
We also asked which was the second choice of viewers. This produced an interesting finding. No viewers of networks other than Fox chose Fox as their second choice. 60% of Fox viewers chose, as their second choice, "other" about 13% chose MSNBC and ten percent chose CNN and ABC.
ABC 45% rarely or never listen to talk radio
CBS 70%
CNN 58%
MSNBC 60%
NBC 76%
and Fox 18%
In other words, 82% OF Fox News viewers are cross pollinated by talk radio spin from the right wing echo chamber as well.
So, let's take 82% of the 37% of respondents who said they are Fox viewers, and we get... 30.34%, just about exactly the percentage of people who still approve of Bush.
Interesting.
Now, the other 70% of Americans have to do something.
Using the most watched TV news network as a demographic poll variable is fascinating. Since 80 some percent of Republicans and conservatives select it, it is a powerful alternate way to find out positions on issues. For example, support for pro-life is strong, but weaker than other right wing issues and support for insurance reimbursement for contraceptives is not as solid as one might expect among Fox watchers.
On the other hand, watchers of other networks very considerably on some issues. Advocacy groups doing polling would be well advised to include this question.
