Voters in Michigan and Florida unfortunately have to lie in the bed that was made by their ill-advised state party leadership. Their state party signed off on a plan as to the order of the primaries for this election cycle and all states signed off on it. Then after the fact the party leaders decided that power was more important than agreements and the rule of law.
It reminds me of the developers in my area where they start building the house first and then start worrying about getting or 'modifying the necessary permits'. This mind set actually reflects a republican based infection that idolizes personal rights over community responsibilities (biologic or humanistic).
The primary elections they held are worthless and they must live with this fact. In Michigan more "uncommitted" voters voted for Mr. Uncommitted (Edwards or Obama), than voted for Hillary. No such 'uncommitted' choice was offered in Florida.
Karen L. Thurman Florida state party chairwoman explains, "There will be no other primary. Florida Democrats absolutely must vote on January 29th. We make this election matter. Not the D.N.C., not the delegates, not the candidates, but Florida Democrats like you and me voting together. We make it count." Read me me me.
When men (or women) of power think that they can just make their own rules and screw the rules or the regulations we all suffer. It destroys any sense of the importance of service above self, and mostly it is driven by the greed and misguided self entitled wet dreams of those who live for money and power above all else.
This controversy is an analogy for a portion of the resistant fungus that rots at the root of our collective unconcious. It's not about me me me, it's about sticking to your word and the truth and following the rules. Without conventions (Geneva or otherwise?) there is no norm or standard, only chaos. Duh.
Michigan and Florida state party leaders bear a personal responsibility of subjecting you and me to the self-inflicted blood bath that is the Obama Clinton slug fest. Money that could be focusing now on McCain and the general is squandered and wasted. Precious time is lost in controlling the spin of the republican controlled corporate media.
What are Florida and Michigan democratic voters to do? The ones who really decide in November. Come out hard for a crushing blow to the republican McCainMcBush and don't buy the garbage you will be spun on how mad you are about the primaries and 'you went blue for the general'. This may be all part of some pavlovian news story mind game to prepare us for 'the reason' Mcinsane took Florida, but I don't buy it now and I won't buy it in November. You are too smart for that hogwash.
