The impotent Dems in the senate ask ultra right wing media company Clear Channel to slap Rush Limbaugh's hand and of course, Clear Channel, slaps back, saying no, we don't think so..
First, he says the words "Phony Soldiers. That's plural, with an "S."
Then, he gets attacked for this. And then, he says he was talking about one soldier.
The problems is that little "s," the sibilance at the end of the soldier. Rush can't get around it. Right wing defenders are willing to beat his denial drum. But the tape itself proves the lie, in psite of the majority of right wing media selling LImbaugh's BS version of the story.
The problem, Joe, is they only hear Limbaugh over there, in Iraq. They don't hear a balanced media mix over in Iraq. (BTW, I've become a fan of Scarborough's morning show, and no longer watch CNN in the moring. Joe has transformed from a right wing evening hack to a reasonable libertarian leaning, Bush criticizing far more centrist guy who discusses both sides of issues. I respect him for making the wake-up shift. And Mika Brezinski-- she's fabulous. I love the way she rejects reporting on fluff news like Paris Hilton and Brittany Spears updates. Willy Geist-- i could do without him. I'm hoping that the new show keeps experimenting with staffing, and replaces him, preferably with a minority person.)
The fact is, Limbaugh has been bloviating and selling the Bush administration pro war message since day one, helping the administration lead us into war on duplicitous charges. Limbaugh has been a Bush lie enabler and amplifier, with the help, aid and comfort of the US military-- led by sycophant generals who sell out their country to keep their jobs and power.
So we have troops who, hearing only one voice, believe that Limbaugh is on their side. Limbaugh, besides believing that troops who speak their mind are phony, and much worse, plays a powerful role in keeping the troops there, by bolstering the support for Bush's horrific "leadership."
Limbaugh's attack on Troops who exercise free speech should be a last straw. He should no longer be allowed to broadcast attacks on free speech.
One simple solution is for the house of representatives, who do not have the guts, apparently, to block the funding of the war, to at least take a token victory-- by passing a funding bill (damn them for doing it. They really should refuse to further fund the war, except to bring the troops home,) which removes Limbaugh's programming from reaching the troops. I suggest they replace him with Thom Hartmann, who routinely , literally four out of five days a week, invites conservatives on his show, giving them a voice.
