81 year old black farmer arrested on terroristic threat allegations

Harry Young, an 81 year old black farmer who has been protesting what he says is an illegal and unconstitutional foreclosure of his western Kentucky farm, has been arrested on allegations terroristic threatening. The charges reportedly stem from a 5 year old incident where Young allegedly threatened a federal marshal. Young says he has made no terroristic threats.

The nation's economy is being compared to a house of cards, a shaky structure which could be blown right into recession by increasingly negative financial forces. An Ohio case, where a federal judge threw out 14 foreclosure actions by a bank which held the loans in securitzed mortgages based on the bank's inability to prove ownership is raising alarms in the mortgage investment industry.

Washington Post notes that the economic system is fueled by faith. What scares the central bankers now is the evaporation of trust from the system. Banks don't believe each other's numbers; since nobody knows the real value of some of the mortgage-backed securities everyone is holding, they assume the worst. They start hoarding cash as a buffer against their own losses and because they're nervous about lending to anyone else
