The I-Ching speaks about Obama

The I-Ching is an ancient Chinese Oracle originally written to guide rulers and kings, although anyone can consult it as a "Superior Man".
It is so old that Confucious wrote footnotes to it!
It has never failed to amaze me, since my first consultation with the newly-translated Wilhelm version, as an art student in Baltimore in the 60's, when it blew my mind with it's relevance to my situation at the time, and many times thereafter.

I asked it to speak to me about Obama and this Change, and tossed my coins.

My heart leaped as I began to recognize this Hexagram...and I confess, I wept some tears of joy!
It said, "Possession in Great Measure" ! (out of 64 possible readings, this is the best one)
"Supreme Success; all things come to a man who is modest and kind in a high position"
" Fire in heaven above; the Image of Possession in Great Measure.
All things stand out in the light,
Thus the Superior Man curbs Evil and furthers Good
and thereby obeys the benevolent will of heaven "    (And the People! this Hexagram indicates the Mass)
"The yielding receives the honored place in the Great Middle, upper and lower correspond.
His character is firm and strong, ordered and clear, finding correspondence in heaven and moving with the Time"
His changing line was the nine in the fourth place, which said,
"He makes a difference
Between himself and his neighbor.
No Blame
(he is clear, discriminating and intelligent)"

(Unlike his "Neighbor" GW or McSAME)

Sounds like our Man alright!
The hexagram then changes to:

The Taming Power of the Great

"The Firm ascends and honors the worthy.
Perseverance furthers.
He is able to keep his strength still; this is great correctness.
Not eating at home  (entering public service)
brings good fortune, for people of worth are nourished
It furthers one to Cross the Great Water"
(Great undertakings are now possible!)

The individual lines and especially their sequence are also VERY meaningful, warning of the seriousness of the task and dangers to be guarded against and surmounted.  Then speaks of "A great wagon for loading" meaning great tasks and undertakings with able helpers, and ends with "Good fortune" because "His truth is accessible, yet dignified"
      Of this hexagram Confucious said,
"To bless means to help. Heaven helps the man who is devoted. Men help the man who is true.  He who walks in truth and is devoted in his thinking, and furthermore reveres the worthy, is blessed by heaven.  He has good fortune and there is nothing that would not further."

I'd say the I Ching has certainly given Obama's Change a ringing endorsement, not mention, good advice!

Love and solidarity,
Bia
