But this is a different kind of challenge, leaving the power structure in place but using it in different ways than in the past.
This challenger is now at the back gate of the empire with his barbarian soldiers, recruited to fight other wars for the empire, but now returning home and demanding a piece of that power. They have become his army of supporters and do not attend to the social niceties of the court.
That back gate is used by the aristocracy to sneak out at night for sexual liaisons and secret rendezvous with dark agents for nefarious ends. It is an open secret within the halls of the empire.
In addition, this challenger has exposed some of the failings and weaknesses of the ruling elite that everyone recognizes and says that he will do things better.
This is one of their own, and, like any family feud, it can get very nasty"airing all the dirty laundry and slapping, kicking, biting and scratching. It all is quite unseemly to the ordinary folk, but this is an in-family affair and outside of public norms.
What most of the courtiers and courtesans who serve the aristocracy do not understand is that the aristocracy is very pragmatic about retaining its power and will go with the winner as long as that winner leaves them in power.
So while the nation is full of courtiers and courtesans (and want-to-be's) falling all over themselves demonizing Trump"exposing themselves in low and often embarrassing ways in their attempts to service the economic aristocracy"that aristocracy will simply leave them embarrassingly naked and exposed if Trump wins.
The economic elite will simply switch horses in their continued ride to increased power and control.
