Now, with that in mind, you really don't want to have much of a conversation. This person probably can't and doesn't want to think or change his or her mind. But if he or she says anything that is rightwing bullshit, don't take it. Anything!! Don't let it pass. Ask which right wingnut talk radio show or TV show they bought the line from hook, line and sinker. Tell him he has drank the koolaid, that it's like he's become part of a cult, brainwashed, sleepwalking. Tell him he needs to wake up.
Expect him to talk about "you liberals." Expect him to cite the talking points the right wing has been refining and pounding into his little brain for years-- Big government, tax raising liberals. Remind him of the hundreds of billions being spent on Iraq, on the trillions in national debt his people have rung up. Ask him if he's still glad that they took out Saddam. Ask him if he still believes in WMDs. He actually might, some of these fools' brains are so sodden with propaganda.
Don't take it anymore. Don't let the fools slide, Don't let them feel superior to you. It's part of their right wing pathology. Don't let it pass. Treat it like the vomit that it is. Don't let them take the brave, heroic courage away from Feingold. He's doing the right thing.
