Well?
NY Times October 17, 2007
Don’t worry there’s more;
There was another article called “Say What You Like, Just don’t Say it Here”.
This was an article about a Muslim cleric, Tariq Ramadan, that had been in the US 27 times in the past and had spoke at Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton and at the US State Department. But now, due to the Patriot Act, the cleric could not come to the US and give a speech. It seems that from 1998 to 2002 he gave to a Muslim Charity that had ties to Hamas. He gave an extraordinary $1,300.00 over the four years! That also ruined the man’s chances to get a teaching appointment at the University of Norte Dame in Indiana!
In another stupid move, the US brought charges against two television satellite service operators, Javed Iqbal and Saleh Elahwal for “providing material support” to Hezbollah, by including the group’s television station in their programming.
As far as I’m concerned, I don’t need the government telling us who we can or can’t listen to. This is a gross violation of OUR First Amendment Rights and the government should be ashamed of themselves. First of all, the Professor should be allowed to lecture and teach, the measly $1,300.00 is just a ruse to prevent him from speaking here. Secondly, we should be able to listen to him without the government thinking he’s going to “convert” everyone to Islam by his speaking here. In the case of the two satellite TV broadcasters, Hezbollah is not nor has it ever been a threat to America. The country that has a problem with THEM is ISRAEL for God’s sake! Why can’t they broadcast here?
Don’t you just love it when the government tries to censor what you can or cannot be exposed to?
Then there is the case of The Journalist “Shielding Law” in which journalists don’t have to reveal confidential sources unless it is an imminent threat to national security. The vote passed the House with a 398-21 margin. It was a bipartisan bill brought by Rick Boucher (D-Va) and Mike Pence (R-Ind.). The Senate is considering a “watered-down” bill and the President that satanic majesty, threatened to veto it. I say go ahead and try, with a vote like that, I’m sure it will be a fat lip for Bush, just what he needs.
Then there is the vote that will come on December 5th of this year about the detention rights of the prisoners held in Guantanamo Bay. The NY Times says that;
“Civil liberties groups — and this Editorial Board — believe it is important for the Supreme Court to make clear that the detainees have a constitutional right to have a judge determine whether they are being properly held.”
That’s the spirit Editor’s!, for when we ignore the Geneva Convention that gives other countries the right to ignore it too. This administration makes Machiavelli look like a piker. All three of the White House Cabal should be given their walking papers. That’s Bush, Cheney, and Cheney’s Chief of Staff David Addington. We have put up with way too much of their crap! Impeachments too good for them, they should all be charged with crimes against the state by defying the Constitution. By the way, when is Alberto Gonzales going to be charged for lying under oath?
So when’s the next war boy’s? Hurry up so you can declare the “State of Emergency” and declare martial law to cancel the elections and stay in power. Just try it; we already have your number.
