While expressing concern about the consequences of a new war, the Chatham House report solicits the continuation of an appeasement policy with Iran that has given that country’s theocratic rulers the opportunity to pursue nuclear weapons without concern and to control a vital region in the Middle East. Such a policy suggestion is a recipe for escalating the current international crisis with Iran into a definite war.
The fact remains that any solution to the present crisis, must necessarily acknowledge that the ruling regime in Iran is the main problem and that the only way to avert a foreign war is to allow the internal process of regime change by the Iranian people to take its course. The necessary consequence would of course be to stop hampering the opposition movement to the ruling clergy in Iran and to delist the main Iranian opposition group, the PMOI, from the EU terror list, which was an outcome of a failed appeasement policy. The European Court of First Instance has ruled to this effect and the EU political leadership should acknowledge as much and show its respect for the rule of law.
