Mercury turns direct on April 4 at 24* Pisces: On a small island surrounded by the vast expanse of the sea, people are seen living in close interaction. This is a beautiful image of the human psyche. Surrounded by the waters of the collective unconscious, we emerge out of the collective waters as individuals with certain talents and purposes. We all have many different aspects to our personality and if we're going to function well in the world, we need to integrate these parts so they can work together towards common life goals. And when we learn to work with the gifts we have inside ourselves, we'll be better able to work with others. Our ability to work in groups without losing our focus and identity will become even more important in the coming years.
Libra
Full Moon
The
Libra full Moon occurs on Friday, April 6th at 12:19pm PDT/ 3:19pm
EDT/ 7:19pm GMT.
The Sabian symbol for the Sun at 18* Aries is: An empty hammock stretched between two trees. This suggests that we need a healthy rhythm between activity and rest. Instead of the "go,go,go' of our patriarchal culture, we need to find a balance between work and play, action and relaxation. When we live in the rhythms of nature we live more consciously. And what's better than an afternoon nap in a hammock?
The Sabian symbol for the Moon at 18* Libra is: Two men placed under arrest give an accounting for their acts before the tribunal of society . This image suggestions that we are recognizing (two men -- often in dreams when a dream figure is doubled, it means this energy is becoming conscious) where some of our masculine "doing' energy hasn't fulfilled the expectations of society and so this energy has been "arrested', slowed down, stopped. With the Moon in Libra, the symbol suggests that we are beginning to recognize that self-interest in relationships isn't going to carry the day. Just as the Sun's image suggests an alternating energy between action and rest, so too relationships must encompass more than self-interest. Relationship is about the give and take between two or more people. It isn't only people who suffer when self-interest takes the starring role in life; love, community and the common good cannot flourish.
Saturn in Libra is in a very loose conjunction with this full Moon, adding the weight of responsibility to our relationship decisions. It can add more frustration and crystallization to a bad situation, or it can make us more disciplined with how we relate to each other. Saturn is at 27* Libra: An airplane sails high in the clear sky. This symbol gives us hope that we have the capacity to rise above our narrow view of life and relationship and see it from a higher/spiritual perspective. An airplane symbolizes our imagination, which can change our perspective if we use it. Let the responsibility and discipline of Saturn help you find the right perspective on your life and loves this full Moon.
Pluto in Capricorn is in a very wide square to this full Moon. Adding to the drama, it's about to turn retrograde on April 10th at 10* Capricorn: An albatross feeding from the hand of a sailor. We talked about this degree with the grand earth trine of early March. It's time to feed the lost soul within each of us. Pluto in Capricorn has been digging up the dirt on how corrupt our financial and governmental agencies are. In the light of this information, what are we going to do about it? Today I read that the Supreme Court is allowing strip searches in jails to "protect' the police, even if you've only been arrested for a misdemeanor. What does that say about the state of our democracy? If your soul longs for freedom, what does that mean for you? What will you do to ensure freedom for all of us? The square from Pluto to the full Moon indicates that fairness and justice must be societal values, not just personal ones. We have to live our values if we want our society to actually function through those values.
Mutable Grand Cross
There is a lot of tension during this full Moon due to a mutable grand cross. A grand cross means that there are 4 or more planets in each of the mutable signs and they form 4 squares and 2 oppositions. A grand cross can feel restrictive and limiting unless we use moderation and have self-discipline in dealing with it. The issue is how to use our energy without scattering or draining it. There are karmic lessons to be learned about our ability to concentrate, to make decisions, to initiate positive changes and to stand up for ourselves rather than give in to external pressure.
The first opposition to be handled is one we've been working on for the past year: the Sagittarius North Node conjunct the asteroid Juno opposes the Gemini South Node conjunct Venus. The Sag NN urges us to reflect on our beliefs. With Juno, it concentrates on our beliefs about relationships and the need for real partnership, balance and equality. The Gemini SN asks us to release old perspectives and old ways to categorize our experiences. With Venus, it suggests that we need to find new ways to understand how love and relationships shape our lives. Our beliefs set the patterns for how we experience life. Change our beliefs and we can change our lives. Love is demanding that we begin to see the world from a new perspective. Venus will also go retrograde in mid-May, asking us to re-evaluate what's of value to us. More on the Venus retrograde and her rare transit of the Sun in the next newsletter.
The
second opposition in this grand cross is between Mars retrograde in Virgo
opposite both Neptune and Chiron in Pisces.
The vision, compassion and healing of our collective longing has to be
incorporated into how we go after what we desire from life. Our personal desires do not have to conflict
with our collective caring. Mars has to
become a spiritual warrior to get through these next years. That means living a healthy lifestyle,
listening to our emotional body and tuning into our spiritual understanding. This is the way to create a world that supports
the possibilities of all life.
Mars and Venus, the rulers of Aries and Libra, square each other during this full Moon, challenging each other to be the best that they can be! This full Moon highlights who and what we love and what we are willing to do to protect and defend those we love. Sometimes, we all need "somebody to lean on'. Be there for those you love!
May you all have a blessed holiday in this season of renewal and new life.
Blessed Be!
