Vacillation

The soul of some people screams in rage and swings over to weeping in empathetic compassion as it peruses the headlines via alternative internet news.  The blogs and publicly funded websites tell so much more of the picture than the corporately controlled and government advised mainstream media news outlets.  And when one bothers to take a look at the reality of the big overall global picture via the free press one is apt to also be a thinking and observant being that is likely to also be in touch with its own essence and soul.  If such a human being then reaches out and is in touch with other earthly beings in a unified survival of the species and human rights sense, he or she might also be the type of person who will rage at the atrocities that occur and almost simultaneously break down into a despair of hopelessness when reading about today’s world.  A person in such a state of mind begins to suspect his or her self of manic depression or bipolar disorder as a simple daily task like reading the news becomes a scathing bloody drag across the conscience.

But then those who actually read the free press and alternative venue news have to do a reality check and they realize that they are more likely to be the centrists, the realists and the real patriots.  They are likely to be the ones informing others about important current events that have been relegated to obscurity by the mainstream media and its masters.  Those others are likely to be the type of folk who bleat in unison to the television’s latest scandal of distraction.   Sadly, many people seem to choose a life of blissful ignorance as they consume goods and practice a way of life that is far removed from what Jesus had in mind.  The life of the satisfied is complacent and apathetic and it often does not extend far beyond the nose of its keeper.

But those who seek the truth already know or suspect that the gig is up and that there are paths better left unexplored and much better ones to wander down.  There’s a palpable apocalyptic feeling of change in the air that those in tune with the overall human condition can feel in their innermost core of self awareness where the proverbial pit of the stomach lies. The world has gone topsy-turvy.  People starve and children die while heads of state dine with heads of business and finance while deciding which of us are expendable to the cause of their increased personal wealth. The powers that be are the crooks who thumb their noses at respect and integrity while running free at large in an Orwellian society.  A place where those who don’t tow the line of “war is peace” are subject to being labeled as a domestic terrorist and thus also wind up lacking a means of justice as well.

Our very minds are at stake in a world where ideas are presented in slick, fast-paced sound bites and talking points disputed by talking heads who spout approved messages meant to persuade us that it is in our best interest to allow others to do our thinking for us.

Our purchasing and viewing habits are studied, our emails are read and our phones are tapped.  Yet we carry on in true self involved consumer fashion and work our fingers to the bone pushing little buttons so that we can partake in the media frenzy of frivolity.     Time to settle into a new earth-friendly, people-loving mindset and lifestyle is ticking away while the masses enjoy bread and circuses and puffed-up proud nations jostle for position to blow each other up as to obtain the earth’s last remaining accessible fossil fuels.  All for the purpose of a minority of us to continue to enjoy an ultra-luxurious red-handed elitist and exploitation based lifestyle.

One has to wonder when the people at large will have felt enough of the march towards widespread global displacement, fascism, poverty, starvation and oppression to actually do something about the way we hypocritically declare to love others and our planet as we love ourselves and to defend our civil rights against tyranny to ensure the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness for all.  Will compassion for the forgotten and starving masses living in regions fraught with clandestine interference by outside nations and corporate exploitation ever righteously grab hold of the hearts of those who cannot seem to stop consuming a disproportionate share?  Will the consumers ever come to understand that production of goods more often than not entails toxic environmental pollution and low worker wages that do not allow for all creature comforts and a whole family’s nourishment? Or will the complacent humans only feel it when it hits them personally like a freight train?

Hence the soul swinging vacillation that starts with incredulousness and anger and then morphs into a mind-spiral hell bound to land at the lap of despair over humanity’s fateful leap into the abyss of the forewarned detrimental path to self destruction that was laid before us in historical and archeological record.  The insanity of our ways begins to become apparent as our behavior shows that we willingly repeat history and expect a different outcome, and then the rage comes back.  Is planet Earth actually the universe’s insane asylum? One has to wonder if evolution actually is nothing more than a theory because it appears that mankind has not progressed intellectually or spiritually beyond the practices of barbarism.

Are we lost sheep or are we just lazy?  Has there not been a renewed unified and massive movement to call for justice and equality for all because we are intellectually limited in cognitive understanding? Or is it because we selfishly choose to deny the ugly monsters that we have become while we falsely cling to dogma and ritual that represent something far removed from our wickedness? Ruling out rose-colored glass optimism and matters of faith, should awareness of our realistic collective condition in the here and now invoke feelings of sadness or anger in the observant mind?  Should we laugh or should we cry?
