And Moriarty is not necessarily, I think, trying to, I mean Moriarty is, is just trying to accumulate power and problem solve in his own way. He's, he wants to thwart societal expectations, he wants to, he wants to scare people I guess. And that's what makes him scary is that he wants to scare people. Sherlock Holmes doesn't necessarily want to scare people. But it seems like a, a small distinction to make. They're basically the same people, but because Moriarty wants people to be scared, then he is evil. And because Sherlock Holmes doesn't necessarily want them to be scared, just wants them to be less ignorant, than Sherlock Holmes is a hero.
Rob Kall: Hm. Creating fear is a, is evil huh?
M.E. Thomas: Maybe, at least in this, this.
Rob Kall: Sure seems to be something that a lot of politicians and a lot of media people enjoy doing.
M.E. Thomas: *chuckles* Exactly, yeah which is interesting, that's why I think it's very complicated. I don't I have any special insight, I think it's very complicated and I'm not even very good at philosophy. But it seems, people simplify it. You know for somebody like me to say that it's complicated, and that I, I could never hope to understand it in my entire lifetime. It's surprising to me when people claim to know exactly what's going on, and to be absolutely one hundred percent certain that this is evil, and that this isn't, and that's just the way it is, and that's truth with a capital T.
Rob Kall: Okay. I want to move to another topic. What are your politics? Who'd you vote for?
M.E. Thomas: So I'm a libertarian for the most part, and I as a libertarian I don't really vote. *chuckles* I'm not really interested in".
Rob Kall: Did you vote?
