M.E. Thomas: In terms of how to, influence the media?
Rob Kall: And the jury, you have a very interesting description in your book about how you deal with jurors. So, I'm not even sure, I don't think an appeal goes to a jury though does it? It goes to a judge right?
M.E. Thomas: Yeah, a judge. But, so and a judge, it would depend on the particular judge. His attorney would probably be, I'm sure that his attorney will research the specific judge, because judges respond to different things. Some people emotional appeals, you know if he was to say, you know, I, this, "I was overwhelmed," or, pity play is a kind of common one for manipulation. He has been wronged, he was the one who was wronged in some way because she wronged him, or the justice, justice was not served and so he's been wronged, would be a good one.
Rob Kall: He has, he has attacked her and said negatives things about, the the wife, even though he's always denied killing the wives. But he's attacked them, and he's also been very verbal with the press, he's laughed at the whole situation.
M.E. Thomas: Yeah, sometimes I wonder with situations like that, when people are acting really, self destructively in sort of obvious ways like that, laughing at the press. Maybe it's, he's a sociopath and he's just fed up, or sick of what's going on, and he just thinks, "Who are these people to judge me," you know, their morality's based on nothing. If he feels that way about morality, but I often think that they might be narcissists. That they think that these people don't have any, their opinion doesn't matter because they're idiots, you know. And he's the only one who truly understands how great he is, and he has to put up with all of these people who are stupid, and asking him stupid questions. And his wives were stupid, and he's the one that everyone should feel bad for because he had to put up with his wives for that long. And even if they did die, who cares, because they weren't worth living.
I think, I think that's more a narcissistic way to think about it. So it's it's hard to tell though, just based on what you've described.
Rob Kall: Fair enough. What, what about the relationship between narcissism and psych, sociopathy? Now the doctor I interviewed, Dr. Black, suggested that the worst kind of sociopath is a narcissistic sociopath.
M.E. Thomas: Hah. I could see, I mean worse, yeah worst kind of sociopath, its like, violent sociopath, a pedophilic sociopath is maybe what some people might think is the worst sociopath. *chuckles* It's kind of, a lot of, a lot of opportunity for arguing that there are even worse kind of sociopaths.
