Nuclear Threats - Part 3 - Our Government Lies to Us about Nuclear Safety - Radioactive Explosions in War and in Peace

Message Robert A. Leishear, PhD, PE, ASME Fellow

The U.S government lies about our protection from nuclear war, lies about safe nuclear energy, and lies about so-called tactical nuclear weapons, or nuclear bombs, which have all been effectively covered up by the U.S government for many years. That is, the government lies to us, and they threaten our lives. These horrific dangers cannot be fixed until we face the lies.

Mark Twain said that "You can tell when a politician is lying because his lips are moving". Although this comment is questionable, we have all seen dishonesty from politicians, and we may become jaded to such dishonesty. However, dishonesty in the world of nuclear war and nuclear energy strikes deep into our lives.

None of Us Are Safe From Nuclear Weapon Murders - Our Government Lies to Us

U.S defenses against nuclear war can be breached to murder our citizens if nuclear missiles are fired at the U.S. Our government lies to us.

The U.S. falsely claims that 'platforms and weapons' 'provide 24/7 deterrence to prevent catastrophic actions from our adversaries' (click here). However, Russian missiles and bombs can kill millions in a single blast. North Korean missiles and bombs can kill hundreds of thousands in a single blast, and North Korea continues to improve nuclear missiles and nuclear bombs (Figure 1).

These claims are based on tests of U.S. nuclear missile defense systems that have recently experienced failures. Such a failure during a nuclear weapon attack can kill thousands of people in a single blast, or can even kill millions of people in a single blast. Even more people can be murdered from multiple warheads on a single nuclear missile - or from multiple nuclear missiles - that can be fired in a nuclear attack.

This danger was neglected for years, and our missile defense systems are not able to prevent massive loss of life in a nuclear war, which should be prevented however possible. The U.S. Department of Defense refused to respond to a request for comment.

The short story is that our safety and our lives are in jeopardy.

The Lie of 'Tactical Nuclear Weapons' - Our Government Lies to Us Some More

For decades, the U.S. and Russia have claimed that tactical nuclear weapons are justifiable for battlefield use. However, these weapons are, in fact, nuclear bombs that execute mass murder. Even the smallest so-called 'tactical nuclear weapon' can murder more than ten thousand people. Our government lies to us.

The scope of mass murder in a nuclear war is incomprehensible (Figures 2 and 3). The U.S., Russia, North Korea, and other nations have numerous nuclear warheads to be launched in a nuclear war (Figure 4).

Firing a nuclear weapon is a war crime. Make 'the bomb' against the law!

Nuclear Reactor Power Plants Can Violently Explode - The Nuclear Industry Lies to Us

An industry-wide cover-up thwarts explosion prevention at nuclear power plants. Our government lied to us.

Recent, peer-reviewed research proved that nuclear power plants are explosions waiting to detonate. This research has also showed that the next nuclear power plant explosions and disaster are expected before 2039. During the past ten years, this research has further proved that such explosions are preventable (Figure 5).

Explosions at Three Mile Island (TMI), Fukushima, and other smaller nuclear plant explosions shared a common, preventable cause. Flammable hydrogen exploded when compressed and heated by water that was added too fast during accident conditions. In fact, Fukushima explosions could have been prevented if the U.S government had not lied to us about TMI explosions.

That is, the U.S. government downplayed several TMI nuclear reactor system explosions by falsely claiming that fires ignited, rather than admitting that explosions detonated in nuclear reactor systems and a nuclear reactor containment building.

Specifically, Fukushima explosions could have been stopped by adding water slower to nuclear reactors if technology had not been stymied by this U.S. cover-up. Today, with new technology in hand, the nuclear power plant explosion cover-up continues.

Recent attacks on nuclear power plants in the Ukraine showed that engineers had never considered acts of war as viable threats to nuclear plant explosion safety. The IAEA refuses to act to make these plants safer to operate.

The Lies Keep on Coming

Government regulators and officials continue to lie to us. For example, the President of the American Nuclear Society refuses to print any new safety information to stop nuclear power plant explosions. The Chairman of the U.S Nuclear Regulatory Commission provided false information when he refused to implement new safety procedures and safety equipment to stop nuclear power plant explosions.

Several of the so-called protectors of nuclear safety refuse to respond at all. These organizations include the U.S. Secretary of Energy, the United Nations, the Nuclear Energy Agency, Japanese nuclear energy regulators, and Japanese nuclear power plant operators. The International Atomic Energy Agency acknowledged requests, but refused to respond to numerous requests for comment.

In a written response, the U.S. Department of Energy commanded that nuclear reactor safety does not apply to the U.S. fleet of nearly 100 nuclear power plants. An investigation of this safety concern by the Office of the U.S. DOE Inspector General also concluded that nuclear power plant safety was inapplicable to the U.S. nuclear reactor fleet. A U.S. Senator declined to act on this nuclear power plant safety information.

By their continued deceit, these organizations risk, and accept, the next, approaching nuclear power plant explosions.

What Should We Do About Government Cover-ups? Stop the Lies.

Quite simply, our lives are at risk, and we should act to take steps to lower these risks. Our government lies to us. Stop their lies. Expose the facts through the following actions.

  • Send letters to Congress, which are provided in Part 4 of this series.
  • Create war crime laws against nuclear weapons.
  • Force the Department of Defense to disclose additional missile defense needs to ensure our safety in the event of a nuclear attack.
  • Change nuclear power plant designs and procedures to stop them from blowing up.
