Dr. Griffin asks us to remove the government-provided black hoods and demand answers to critical questions. Why did our air defenses not function on September 11th? What "war games" exercises was VP Cheney overseeing that day? Why did Cheney and President Bush forcefully resist any meaningful inquiry into 9-11 events, agreeing only to speak to the 9-11 Commission on the condition that they could avoid testifying under oath, prohibit recordings and notes from being taken, and appear together, before only two of the ten Commissioners? Doesn't such blatant evasion warrant serious suspicion? Dr. Griffin thus also makes us reflect upon the very meaning of our democracy.
Have widespread citizen apathy and ignorance, facilitated by a compliant, trivializing media, made a sham of our republic? Or can we muster the moral strength and mental energy to more carefully examine the facts surrounding 9-11, the catalyst that enabled our government to launch unrelenting wars, initiate reprehensible tortures, and impose unprecedented assaults against our own civil liberties‹all in pursuit of global domination?
Reminding us of the Golden Rule and the Biblical admonition not to covet our neighbor's goods, including his oil, Dr. Griffin implores us to adamantly resist the 9-11-fed attempt to rule the world. He urges us to reclaim our ethical foundation, It is time to call our nation back to its moral ideals, which stand diametrically opposed to the global domination project.
The truth can indeed set us free, Dr. Griffin reminds us, if we have the courage to face it.
Former United States States Senator Gravell has said "we don't know the truth about 9/11." Amy Goodman asked him about that on DemocracyNow! http://www.democracynow.org/2008/6/17/former_senator_mike_gravel_calls_forMIKE
GRAVEL: Government-90 percent of what the government does is held secret. It's a whole cult. And that's the thing that is really strangling our democracy, that we just don't know what's going on. And so, you need to rip off the scab and see the wound of what the government is damaging. And so, it's a cult. And I don't know how I can phrase it. I've written about the subject. ...Now, from my point of view, impeachment is not what George Bush deserves. He deserves to be prosecuted. He and Cheney need to go to the Hague and stand in the dock like they had Milosevic and others. What they did was criminal. 4,000 Americans have died as a result of their fraud on the American people and-
AMY GOODMAN: 'Do you support Vincent Bugliosi, the Charles Manson prosecutor, who got him behind bars, his call for-we had him on Friday. He's written the book The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder.'
MIKE GRAVEL: 'Oh, there's no question about it. In fact, I have great regrets over the fact that we never put Richard Nixon in jail. I mean, everybody around him went to jail, and he got off and rehabilitated himself. The sooner we put a president or a vice president or a secretary in jail for crimes that they commit against humanity, the sooner leaders will shape up.'

On May 24, at 7:30 PM, Dr. David Ray Griffin spoke at Southern Oregon University at the Britt Auditorium. The Subject was 9/11. The cost of admission was $10 to the general public, $5 for students. I paid the general admission price. The event was co-sponsored by Students for Truth, the local Ashland chapter of the 9/11 Truth Now movement and another student organization. The day before, there had been a huge feature article in the local newspaper, The Ashland Daily Tidings. The event was hosted by Mike Green of the Ashland Daily Tidings. He addressed a packed auditorium. Dr. David Ray Griffin grew up in Oregon, as it turns out.
He began the presentation to an auditorium full of people with the assertion, "Let's get empirical about 9/11.... The evidence is now overwhelming that 9/11 was an inside job.... The question of what happened on 9/11 can only be answered responsibly by being empirical.... When we get empirical about what happened on September 11, we see that 9/11 was caused by forces and individuals within our own government."
Dr. Griffin then went into a brief discussion on the idea of this whole notion of this being a "conspiracy theory." He began with the dictionary definition of the word conspiracy. "A conspiracy," Dr. Griffin said, "is when two or more people conspire --or plan --to commit a crime. Criminals of all types have conspired. We are all conspiracy theorists," he added.
Dr. Griffin expalined that anytime anyone theorizes about a conspiracy or a possible conspiracy, that person is being a conspiracy theorist. "There is also the propagandistic meaning of conspiracy theory," Dr. Griffin explained, "or conspiracy theorist. Our newspapers are full of conspiracy theories. The government explanation of 9/11 is also a conspiracy theory."
